occurring within the parish boundaries, 104 died in the Newington
Workhouse, Westmoreland Road. They comprised 53 belonging
as parishioners to Newington, and 51 to other parishes of
the St. Saviour's Union. The various localities in which the
"outlying" deaths occurred are shown in the following table.
The number of inhabitants belonging to the parish dying away
from home, that is, outside our boundaries in the various Hospitals
and Infirmaries, was by far the largest hitherto known, viz.: 834,
or 28 per cent, of the "corrected " number of deaths.
