45
HOUSES LET IN LODGINGS.
The number on the register is 2. During the year various
houses have been recommended by me for registration but the
Sub-Committee having this matter in hand thought after an
inspection that they were in too good a state to be placed on the
register. Of course when my representation was made I held the
opinion that these houses were suitable ones to be placed upon
the register. It speaks much, however, for the condition of
the pariah when no houses can be found debased enough for
registration.
BAKEHOUSES
The total number of existing Bakehouses is 70.
Many inspections have been made during the year. Notices
have been served upon all those Bakehouses where such conditions
do not exist to provide (1.) An impervious floor, either, 6 inches in
thickness of concrete, flagging, or blue bricks. Casters on
all troughs. (3.) Rendering of the Bakehouse walls to a height
of 4 ft. 6 in. from the floor, with neat Portland cement half-an-inch
in thickness floated smooth on the surface. Much of the work
prescribed has been completed. I consider the Bakehouses in this
parish are in a highly creditable condition.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES AND COWHOUSES.
Five Cowhouses, and nine Slaughterhouses were inspected and
found to be in a good state of repair and in a clean condition.
