Legal Proceedings.
Legal proceedings in connection with nuisances were taken
by the Council in 18 cases during 1927. Particulars with regard
to each case are set out below.

Legal Proceedings under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891.

Nature of Offence or Claim.Result of Proceedings.
Nuisances at Nos. 15, 16 and 18 Woodgate Street, and failure to provide proper dust-bins at Nos. 14, 15, 17 and 18 Woodgate Street. (Seven summonses.)Necessary dust-bins having been provided, the nuisance at 18 abated, and works being in hand to abate the nuisances at 15 and 16, five of the summonses dismissed on payment of £1 Is. costs in each case. The remaining two adjourned. At adjourned hearing, remaining works having been completed, summonses dismissed on payment of £1 1s. costs in each case.
Nuisance at 135 Speke RoadWorks required to abate the nuisance having been completed, summons dismissed on payment of £1 1s. costs.
Nuisance at 103 Harbut RoadThe like.
Nuisance at 1 Gwynne RoadOrder made for nuisance to be abated within twenty-one days.
Failure to comply with the Order of the Court to abate a nuisance at 1 Gwynne Road.Fined 21s. and £3 3s. costs.
Nuisance at 13 Brougham StreetOrder made for nuisance to be abated within seven days.
Nuisance at 141 York RoadTerms having been come to out of Court for the nuisance to be abated by the Council, and the defendant having paid the required contribution summons withdrawn.
Nuisance at 143 York RoadThe like.
(1) Nuisance at 36 Belleville Road(1) Order made for nuisance to be abated within seven days.
(2) Absence of water supply, etc., to W.C. at same premises(2) Fined 20s. and £3 3s. costs.
Nuisance at 167 St. John's Hill.Order made for abatement of nuisance within fourteen days and for payment of £2 2s. costs.
Nuisance at 4 Basnett RoadTerms having been come to out of Court for the nuisance to be abated by the Council, and the defendant having paid the required contribution, summons withdrawn.
