MARRIAGES.
The marriages registered in Battersea during 1927 numbered
1,428. The marriage-rate (i.e., the number of persons married per
1,000 of the population) was 16.9.

BIRTHS.
The number of births registered in the Borough during 1927
was 3,099 (1,561 males, 1,538 females), an excess of 23 males.
Of this number, 587 were transferred out, the permanent residence
of the parents being outside the Borough, and 289 were transferred
here, giving on balance a total of 2,801 births relating to Battersea
residents, and a corrected birth-rate of 16 6 per 1,000 of the
population.
