Health Visitors.
The Health Visiting Staff consists of 9 full time Health Visitors,
two of whom are partly employed as women Sanitary Inspectors.
During the year the Council granted facilities, on the request of
the Ministry of Health, to students of recognised training bodies for
practical training as Health Visitors.
A syllabus for the training of these students has been drawn
up to meet the requirements of the training bodies concerned.
The serious outbreak of Measles at the end of 1925 which
continued with increased severity into the early part of 1926, took up
a good deal of the time of the Health Visitors. Notwithstanding this
however, the other important duties of these officers did not suffer,
the assistance in visiting and other work rendered by the students
from the recognised Training Bodies undergoing practical training
in the Council's Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme proving very
useful in the emergency in maintaining and even increasing the
record of the year's work.
The work carried out during 1926 by the Council's Health
Visitors and those of the voluntary organisations included in the
Borough Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme is summarised in
the table on page 25.
