The department concerned at the County Council has courteously
replied to all the recommendations made. Evidently there is accommodation
to be bad at Becontree, but this is too far away for many
who must live near their work, Sometimes cases have to be refused
because the family means lead one to infer that the rent would be too
much for them.
I have dealt with the remedy elsewhere—the demolition of condemned
areas, the erection of flats, the moving-up of families
according to circumstances.
The following is the table giving some details in the case of thirty of the families whose cases were investigated on complaint.
