TUBERCULOSIS.
The accompanying graphs suggest an association
between the prevalence of respiratory diseases and
tuberculosis. The death rate from tuberculosis in the
Borough shows the same satisfactory fall as that
experienced throughout the country, and is now exactly
half what it was twenty years ago. While this
condition of things is satisfactory, and probably due
in part to anti-tuberculosis measures, it must be
remembered that the tuberculosis death rate had been
falling steadily before these measures were adopted,
and a considerable portion of the improvement must
be attributed to the generally improved standard of
life in the population.
DEATHS IN INSTITUTIONS.

of the Borough take place in institutions may be seen
