appreciated. The following requirements were noted
and have already been carried out:—
The building required renovating, as also did
Thornton Hall.
Printed diet sheets were required for the feeding
of infants.
Lockers for Health Visitors' clothes and some
additional " files " for records were wanted.
Additional heating apparatus, with electric radiators
to preserve a satisfactory temperature for children
and especially for those undergoing " Sunlight " treatment
was urgently needed.
The pram roof required repairing to prevent rain
falling upon the prams.
In view of the thousands of persons visiting the
rooms, the " Centre" needs an additional inlet (or
outlet) to obviate overcrowding and as an emergency
" fire outlet." Application for this has been made to
the Minister of Health.
The staff of lady doctors have always rendered the
most valuable assistance in the discharge of their
onerous duties. It is felt that more cases could be
provided for the Dental Clinic and that an additional
clinic should be held at Thornton Hall, as the attendances
are good, and many prams are wheeled from this
part of the district to the Centre. This is at present
the only clinic outside the Centre. The massage clinic
at Cornwall Road is doing good work, but I think the
addition of electric apparatus would greatly increase
its value. The prenatal advice so ably given has proved
of incalculable value, and the gift by the Council of
the book entitled " Advice to Mothers," prepared by
the National League for Health, Maternity and Child
Welfare, to every expectant mother in the Borough is
very highly appreciated indeed, for it is full of the most
valuable information.
