and then transmitting it to his wife. In view of the
fact, however, that they were only detained in hospital
three weeks, if the diagnosis were correct, they only
suffered from mild attacks of the disease.
With the exception of the cases of children
notified and subsequently found not to be suffering
from small-pox, all the patients had been vaccinated,
though in several instances this had not been performed
since infancy.
Erysipelas.
There were 93 cases notified and 3 deaths.
Malaria.
During the year 7 cases were notified. The
patients were found to be ex-Service men who had
contracted the infection overseas.
Acute Polio-Myelitis and Acute PolioEncephalitis.
One case of Acute Polio-Myelitis was notified.
Dysentery.
There were no cases reported.
Acute Encephalitis Lethargica.
There were 6 cases reported.
Cerebro-Spinal Fever.
Four cases of this disease were notified.
Acute Primary Pneumonia and Acute Influenzal
Pneumonia.
One hundred and sixty-eight cases of acute primary
pneumonia and 42 cases of acute influenzal pneumonia
were notified during the year.
