[Report on the health of the Borough of Bethnal Green during the year 1925]

MATERNITY & CHILD WELFARE.
NOTIFICATION OF BIRTHS ACTS,
1907 AND 1915.
During the year, 2,199 live births were registered
in the Borough ; and of these, 2,194 were notified to
the Medical Officer of Health. There were also 49
stillbirths notified. Of the 2,243 living and stillbirths
notified, 1,362 were notified by midwives, 510 by
maternity assistants of the London Hospital, 273 by
medical practitioners, and 98 by parents and others.
Through the courtesy of neighbouring Medical
Officers of Health I also received copies of notifications
of births of Bethnal Green babies which took place
outside the Borough ; information as to 385 live babies
and 9 stillbirths being received in this way.
