The Medical Officer of Health, if he has to work in
isolation, finds his tasks of preventing illness and safegrarding
the public health beset with many difficulties;
the physician and surgeon can diagnose and treat expertly,
but only the community can restore health.
The emphasis nowadays on mental health, rehabilitation,
and the welfare of the aged and handicapped, cries out
for team work, not only by doctors and professional
workers, but by family members, friends and colleagues
and the man in the street. Here lies the church's great
o pportunity. '
