visit. During the year, 60 persons received this service
and 10,523 articles of bedding and clothing were cleansed
at the Council's Disinfecting Station.
The very essence of work in connection with old people
is a ready spirit of co-operation by the large number of
agencies concerned. There has been a marked tightening
of the links between these bodies within the past year,
which has led to a much smoother functioning of the complex
machine. In acknowledging, with gratitude, the help that
the Council's officers have received it must be said,
nevertheless, that even greater effort is needed in future
if all the available sources of help and care are to be
deployed to the fullest advantage. It must not be forgotten
that there are still far too many old folk who are without
visitors or friends.
