One sample of cotton felt failed to meet the requirements
of the Regulations in respect of the trash content; the permitted
maximum being 7·5 per cent, and the average true trash content
of the sample being 8·1 per cent.
The matter was reported to the Public Health Committee
who authorised a cautionary letter to be sent to the manufacturer.
Further samples were later taken from the same source
and found to be satisfactory.
