The midwives and the health visitors in this Borough have
worked throughout the year in close co-operation with a view to the
successful administration of this new service. In addition to the
Municipal midwives employed in this service, 19 midwives notified
the L.C.C. of their intention to practise in the Borough during 1938.
The number of births attended by midwives during the year
was 848, which represents 23·8 per cent, of the total births notified.
