difficulty in attempting to offer any trustworthy evidence as to the
state of nutrition of the population as a whole or of any section of
it. An analysis of the mortality statistics shows that death rates
have not risen in Camberwell during the years of depression.
Population.
The Registrar-General's estimate of the population for the
mid-year 1933 was 243,700, and this figure has been used for the
completion of the statistical information appearing in this Report.
The population of the different wards calculated upon this estimated figure is compared in the following table with that of the Ward Census enumeration which took place in 1931.
