MEAT AND OTHER FOODS.
Registration of Food Premises.
At the end of December, 1949, the premises registered by
this Authority in accordance with the provisions of Section 14
of the Food and Drugs Act, 1938, comprised the following: —
Sale, manufacture or storage of ice cream 323
Manufacture of sausages 144
Preparation or manufacture of potted, pressed, pickled or
preserved meat 220
Preparation or manufacture of potted, pressed, pickled or
preserved fish 101
Preparation or manufacture of potted, pressed, pickled or
preserved other foods 30
Supervision of Food Premises.
It is the duty of each District Inspector to pay close attention
to the manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of all foods.
The following table shows the number of inspections carried out at various food premises in the Borough during the year:—

Clean Food Campaign.
It is essential that every effort should be made to ensure
that the conditions under which food is prepared for human
consumption are beyond reproach, and to educate all persons
engaged in the handling of food as to the methods to be adopted
to prevent contamination and the importance of personal hygiene.
