Infantile Mortality.
The number of deaths of children tinder one year of age in
1949 was 77, which includes 47 infants who died before attaining
the age of one month. The infantile mortality rate of 31 in
1948 was, up to that time, the lowest ever recorded in Camberwell,
but during 1949 a new low record was reached with a rate
of only 24 infant deaths per 1,000 live births.
