Still Births.
The number of still births registered during the year was
66 comprising 1.9 per cent, of the total births. In 1938 the
number of still births was 103 representing 3.3 per cent. of the
total births. The fall in the percentage of still births is the result
of many factors such as good obstetrics and improvement in the
health of mothers owing to supervision during pregnancy. This
low figure should be further reduced during the next ten years.
Deaths.
The total deaths of Camberwell residents which occurred
during 1948 numbered 2,032, representing a death rate of 11.4
per thousand of the population.
