engaged in the workrooms to have cups of tea free of charge for the
next twelve months. The packed groceries were divided as equally
as possible and a parcel was presented to each club member at a
Christmas Party.
At the outset, it was decided to operate strictly on club lines
because it was considered to be essential that the Club Leader
should have the right to say who should be admitted, and members
are required to sign an attendance book when they arrive. Fortunately,
the need for any person to be excluded has not arisen,
membership is increasing and it will, consequently, be necessary for
additional furniture, crockery, &c., to be purchased. It has been
observed that the old people are particularly appreciative of the
club's facilities during winter months because they are able to
economise in the use of fuel, gas or electricity in their own homes.
