During the course of the year we have employed 15 home helps;
all of them on a part-time basis. A home help is sent to any type of
case where a doctor requests such help, or where the Medical Officer
of Health considers help to be necessary. Many old and feeble folk
have been helped in this way, and altogether assistance has been given
in 290 cases.
The total number of illegitimate children at present known to
us to be living in the borough is 151; this compares with the number
of 163 for last year.
