Report on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey for the year 1943

POST-NATAL AND SPECIAL CLINICS FOR WOMEN.
The total number of attendances during the year was 514. The
number of new patients was 162, the majority of whom were suffering
from menopausal or menstruation disorders. Suitable cases were
treated at the Clinic, others being referred to their own doctors
or to hospitals. Four patients were found to be suffering from
carcinoma.
HEART CLINIC.
The total number of new patients sent up for investigation
during the year was 104, of which number 50 were found to be
suffering from cardiac disease. These patients come by appointment
and are sent by their own doctors; 47 sessions were held
during the year.
OPHTHALMIC CLINIC.
Fifty-six sessions were held during the year, the number of
new patients being 375 and the total attendances 577.
