Two hundred and fifty-four flats and four shops were erected during 1939. Particulars of these are given hereunder:—

Private enterprise has been responsible for the erection of 34 flats.
Altogether, therefore, 279 flats and 4 shops were erected in Bermondsey
during the year.
The houses demolished on insanitary areas number 300, and 9
houses have been demolished following the service of Demolition
Orders.
