Report on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey for the year 1939

DEATHS.
The total number of deaths belonging to the borough registered
during 1939 was 1,010, consisting of 559 males and 451 females. The
number for 1938 was 1,072.
The death rate for 1939 was 11.2 per 1,000 persons living, compared with 11.0 for 1938.
MARRIAGES.
The total number of marriages in the borough in 1939 was 1,258,
being 317 above the number for 1938, and 254 above the average for
the last 10 years.
The figures have been supplied by the Superintendent Registrar.
This makes a marriage rate of 26.35 per 1,000 of the population,
compared with a marriage rate last year of 19.32.
