Report on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey for the year 1938

DEATHS.
The total number of deaths belonging to the borough
registered during 1938 was 1,072, consisting of 602 males and
470 females. The number for 1937 was 1,212.
The death rate for 1938 was 11.0 per 1,000 persons living,
compared with 12.3 for 1937.
MARRIAGES.
The total number of marriages in the borough in 1938 was
941, being 149 below the number for 1937, and 74 below the
average for the last 10 years.
The figures have been supplied by the Superintendent
Registrar. This makes a marriage rate of 19.32 per 1,000 of the
population, compared with a marriage rate last year of 22.07.
