Report on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey for the year 1936

DEATHS.
The total number of deaths belonging to the borough
registered during 1936 was 1,289, consisting of 728 males and
561 females. The number for 1935 was 1,201.
The death rate for 1936 was 12.8 per 1,000 persons living,
compared with 11.7 for 1935.
MARRIAGES.
The total number of marriages in the borough in 1936 was
970, being 57 below the number for 1935, and 41 below the
average for the last 10 years.
The figures have been supplied by the Superintendent
Registrar. This makes a marriage rate of 19.32 per 1,000 of the
population, compared with a marriage rate last year of 20.00.
