ANNUAL REPORT

MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the
Metropolitan Borough of Bermondsey.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,-
I have the honour to submit my Twenty-first Annual Report
on the sanitary condition of the Borough of Bermondsey during
the year 1921. The death-rate was 13.7, compared with 12.7 in
1920, and 14.1 in 1919.
The death-rate is discussed in an early section.
The sections of the report are, as usual, divided into:-
I. —Vital Statistics.
II.—Notification of Infectious Diseases.
III. —Sanitary Administration.
IV. —Factories and Workshops.
At the end of the Report will be found three Special Reports
from Dr. Connan on Tuberculosis, Dr. Stella Churchill on Maternity
and Child Welfare, and Mr. Grantley Smith on the Dental Work of
the Borough.
In the Appendix will be found the Local Government Board
Tables, including a special Table on Infantile Mortality.
I wish once more to record that between the Chairman and
Members of the Public Health Committee and myself, there has
been the usual cordial co-operation during the year under report.
