The total number of births registered in Bethnal Green during
the year is 4,753, against 4,799 in 1898. This indicates a decrease
of 26. The excess of the births over the deaths is 1817. Table
B shews this and compares the two years:—

During the past year a total of 2,669 deaths was registered in the
parish. This is equal to an uncorrected death rate of 20.66.
