Thirty-eight deaths were recorded as being due to these diseases.
Twenty-two deaths were classified as tuberculous meningitis and
16 as other tuberculous diseases.

Tuberculosis Dispensary.
In accordance with recommendation of the Local Government
Board only an " outline" report is given of the work of the
Dispensary during 1916. A more complete report is unnecessary as
the methods of administration and of treatment were fully detailed in
the previous report. It is sufficient to state that these methods are still
adhered to.
The number of new patients examined in 1916 was 871, of whom
137 were insured. The number of attendances recorded by all patients
(old and new) was 7035, being an increase of 1119 over the attendance
of the previous year.
The following tables explain themselves and show, in part, the
results of treatment. Otherwise I would only emphasize my remarks
of previous years with regard to the crying need for accommodation,
apart from Poor Law, for advanced cases of Pulmonary Consumption.
