the wounded brought back to that city. Smallpox has not yet declared
itself, but the war is not far advanced, and medical officers of health
may in connection with epidemic disease yet find that they have to take
part in safeguarding the troops at home.
Staff.
I have much pleasure in reporting that the staff of the Public Health
Department have carried out their difficult duties in a satisfactory and
conscientious manner and to my entire satisfaction. Personally, I beg
to thank the Council for their kind and courteous consideration in
connection with matters affecting this department.
