The total number of boy and girl bathers from schools who
attended the baths was 159,845, 64,161 of whom bathed at Hornsey
Road, 51,297 at Caledonian Road, and 44,387 at Tibberton Square,
as against respectively 60,159, 33,946, and 40,824 in 1898.
Apart from the school children there were 242,531 other

against 308,244 in 1898, of whom 90,688 availed themselves of the
1st class baths and 217,556 of the 2nd class. Of the former 8,792
and of the latter 57,467 were females.

1899 25,875 37,278 67,750 130,903

It will be seen from this statement that there was an increase
at each of the wash-houses, particularly in those at Caledonian
Road and Tibberton Square, which are each situated in the midst
of populations who live for the greater part in tenement houses, and
who, therefore, have not the means at home for washing clothes.
