1899
During the year I inspected at your request the Horse Slaughtering Establishment
at 186, York Road, and presented to you a report thereon, with the result
that the firm was required to put the premises into a sanitary condition, to erect
additional plant, and, before their licence would be renewed, to give a guarantee to
the London County Council that they would execute all the works required by the
Public Health Department of Islington.
I append tables showing the number of my visits to shops, stalls, and preserved
meat factories, and the amount of meat destroyed. Also the number of
visits to the slaughterhouses, number of animals killed, number found affected
with disease, the extent to which they were affected, and how the carcases were
disposed of.
In concluding this report, I beg to thank you and your Chief Inspector for the
kind advice so willingly given. I also desire to thank your District Inspectors for
their kind assistance.
Your obedient servant,
T. DUNLOP YOUNG,
Meat Inspector.
