This table shows that although the quarterly returns for the
year were below the corrected average for the first three quarters
yet in the fourth quarter they were considerably above it. This
increase caused the deaths for the year to be above the average of
the preceding eight years.
I have, after very diligent and prolonged search, been able to
compile the following returns of the deaths which had annually
occurred in the Parish since 1856. Up to 1890 they were very few;
so few indeed that Influenza as a serious disease might be said to
have been non-existent.
