The death rate from these Zymotic diseases is 1.46
for 1916 as against 2.67 for the previous year, the corresponding
rates for the whole of London being 1.04 and
1.51. The deaths from Zymotic diseases form 9.6 per
cent, of the total mortality from all causes.
Table "M" shows the percentage of deaths from each
of these diseases, calculated upon the total number of
Zymotic deaths: —

NOTIFICATION OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
A gross total of 2,565 notification certificates has
been received. 2,297 of these were from medical practitioners
and 268 from the parents or guardians of persons
suffering from Measles. 118 of the medical certificates
were duplicates, so that the actual number of infectious
cases reported and dealt with was 2,447, a rate of
21.2 per thousand on the estimated population of the
Borough. Table "N" gives full particulars of all the
notifications. From this it will be seen that 170
sufferers with Measles and 784 with other infectious
diseases were removed to hospitals under the control of
the Metropolitan Asylums Board, and 59 cases of Measles
and 72 cases of other Zymotic diseases were removed
to general hospitals. In fifty instances, two of which
related to Measles, information was received from the
hospital authorities that the diagnosis as stated on the
notification certificate was incorrect.
