Influenza.
There was an outbreak of influenza in January
which resulted in 54 deaths certified as directly due
to influenza, and an excess of 86 deaths from bronchitis
and pneumonia over the number for the same
month in the previous year, which may be presumed
to have been the sequelae of influenza. Posters dealing
with the prevention and control of the disease
were exhibited in the Borough, and notices urging
the need for adequate ventilation were also sent to
persons in charge of cinemas and other places of
public assembly. The outbreak terminated at the
beginning of February.
