In addition to the above, 4 samples of milk were
examined bacteriologically.
TUBERCULOSIS.
The number of notifications of cases of Tuberculosis
received during the year is set out in the Table
appended hereto.
Owing to duplicate notifications of cases, no deductions
of much value can be drawn from the number
of notifications.
There were 173 deaths from Pulmonary Tuberculosis,
13 deaths from Tuberculous Meningitis, and
11 deaths from other Tuberculous diseases.
SOLDIERS AND SAILORS SUFFERING
FROM TUBERCULOSIS.
186 ex-Service men were under observation during
the year. There were 19 deaths amongst these, and 7
removed from the Borough.
330 visits were paid to these men by the Tuberculosis
Health Visitor.
WORK OF TUBERCULOSIS HEALTH
VISITOR.
This Officer paid 2,956 visits to cases.
During the year 60 sputum flasks were distributed
to patients. 50 sputum tins with 1,500 cardboard
refills were distributed to patients for use indoors.
