In addition to the unhealthy areas referred to above, another
area (Shard Square and Greenhundred Road) was inspected, but,
after taking into consideration all the circumstances of the case,
including the difficulty of rehousing the occupants, it was decided
not to represent this property, and the houses are being dealt with
under the Public Health Act.
Hampton's Avenue, which has long been the subject of attention
from this Department, was, as mentioned in the Medical Officer's
report for 1921, acquired by a firm carrying on business in the
neighbourhood, and the tenements are being slowly but surely put
into habitable condition.
Action was generally taken under the Public Health Act, in
preference to the Housing Acts, and only 11 Notices were served
under Section 28 of the Housing Act of 1919.
