disease is fully set out in the report. The increase in work demanded by this
extension has gone a good way towards using up the energies of the extra
health visitors who were appointed at the end of the year.
The maternity and child welfare work of the various voluntary centres in
the borough continued to increase during 1916, and was efficiently co-ordinated
with the work of the department. In completion of the Council's scheme for
the dispensary treatment of tuberculosis, agreements were concluded with the
St. Pancras Dispensary and University College Hospital upon the lines
indicated in previous reports.
In conclusion, I wish to express my hearty thanks to the members of the
staff of my department, who have all continued to give of their best in
carrying on the work during the present time of stress and difficulty ; to your
Public Health Committee for the support they have given me; and to the
members of your Council for the personal consideration they have invariably
shown me.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
Medical Officer of Health.
