There were three forms of adulteration in the case of the milk
The nature and samples reported against; namely, deficiency in
adulteration milk fat, presence of extraneous water, and a
reported. combination of both these. Deficiency in milk
fat occurred in 25 samples, and ranged from 1 per cent. to 30 per
cent. Extraneous water, in amounts varying from 1 per cent.
to 18 per cent., was found in 34 samples; whilst extraneous water
with a deficiency in milk fat was found in three samples.
The one sample of Separated Milk reported against contained
2.4 per cent. extraneous water, and the one sample of Skim Milk
submitted and reported against contained 47 per cent. extraneous
water. The two Informal samples of Milk reported against both
contained extraneous water.
In no case was preservative found in milk.
