Infantile Mortality.
The following Table shows the number of deaths, the percentage
to total deaths, the rate per 1,000 births for the year and
for the three previous years for each sub-district and for the whole
Borough

The Infantile Mortality for the year shows a marked and
satisfactory decrease, and is the lowest rate recorded since 1912.
This decrease was general in all the sub-districts, with the exception
of Tooting, where it was live per 1,000 births higher than last year.
INFECTIVE DISEASES.
The total number of deaths from these diseases was 1,734, 142
in Clapham, 56 in Putney, 195 in Streatham, 103 in Tooting, and
238 in Wandsworth.
From all infective diseases the death-rate was 2.36 per 1,000,
(2.42 in Clapham, 1.98 in Putney, 2.03 in Streatham, 2.86 in Tooting,
and 2.58 in Wandsworth).
The rate from the principal infective diseases, viz.:—Small-pox,
Measles, Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough, Diphtheria, Enteric
Fever, and Diarrhoea, was .74 per 1,000 (76 in Clapham, .42 in
Putney, .51 in Streatham, 1.36 in Tooting, and .81 in Wandsworth).
