DISINFECTION.
The total number of disinfections of rooms during the year by the
Council's disinfecting staff was 5,590. Of this number 2,353 rooms were
disinfected after the occurrence of the ordinary notifiable infectious
diseases, as against 1,268 rooms in 1915. 2,539 periodical sprayings of
rooms occupied by Phthisical patients were also carried out during the
year.
698 verminous rooms were sulphured and otherwise cleansed by
the Council's staff during the year, as against 725 in 1915.
Among the total number of disinfections (5,590) it was found
necessary to strip 592 rooms. Of these 375 were in relation to the
notifiable diseases, 212 after the termination of cases of Phthisis, and
5 were verminous.
