As in previous years the children are weighed and advice given
to the Mothers at every attendance.
It will be noticed that there were 24,261 attendances during the
year, as compared with 22,218 for the previous period.
Minor Ailment Centre, Borough Hall.—Facilities arc
afforded at this Centre for the treatment of children suffering from
minor ailments arising from ear, nose or throat trouble, eczema, etc.
Only a comparatively small number of cases however, were
dealt with during the year.
The following continue their good work in the Borough:—
Local Medical Practitioners' School Clinic.
Health Centre, Deptford Green.
Rachel McMillan Memorial Nursery School.
Albany Institute Infant Consultation and Babies' Home.
Deptford Fund—Babies' Hospital.—The arrangement made
with the Deptford Fund still operates whereby they receive in
their Hospital such Greenwich cases as are recommended by the
Medical Officer for treatment. During the year 64 babies were
admitted of which 38 were discharged cured, 17 relieved, 1 transferred
to a M. A. B. Hospital owing to infection, whilst 8 unfortunately
died. Although this would appear at first glance to be a high
case mortality, it must be remembered that not only "wasting"
cases, but all kinds of Medical cases are dealt with.
Baby Week Competitions.—In order to make a change
from the Baby Shows which had been held in former years it was
decided, this year, to invite all the Mothers attending the Infant
Consultations to submit specimens of their work for Exhibition
and Competition.
