SECTION 9.
HOUSING.
In the report for the year ended 1922 it was stated that accommodation
had been provided for 282 families. A contract for the
erection of 80 houses on No. 4 section of the Council's Housing Site
has since been completed, making a total accommodation for 362
families. The Council is considering the question of the erection of
an additional 98 houses on the No. 3 section of the Council's
Housing Estate at the rear of Little Heath and Kinveachy Gardens.
Such houses will probably be mostly of the A2 and A3 types,
which will attract the class of tenant who would probably find it
difficult to pay the rent of houses with larger accommodation.
The houses on No. 3 site will be erected under the provisions of tha
Housing etc., Act, 1923 and under the same Act it is also proposed
to erect 22 additional houses on the remainder of the Pound Park
Site as soon as the terms upon which the Ministry of Health will
release the land from the Assisted Housing Scheme have been
arranged.
The Council further propose to erect 6 houses containing 12
Maisonettes, with accommodation similar to an A3 house, on a site
acquired by the Council at the corner of Coombedale Road and
Westerdale Road, Greenwich.
