Apart from the help rendered by the Care Committee, the four
Shelters provided by the Borough Council have been in constant use.
Extra nourishment has been granted in 25 instances. To prevent
overlapping, other cases already in receipt of Poor Law Relief, have
been referred to the Guardians. Nothing has been done in the way
of providing accommodation for advanced cases, and such patients
must either enter the Infirmary or remain at home as a possible
source of infection to their families.
The services of the District Nurses in attending and nursing
those advanced cases referred to them from the Dispensary must
be gratefully acknowledged.
In concluding the Report I would once more thank the members
of the Public Health and Dispensary Staff for their assistance and
co-operation in carrying out the work entrusted to us.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
M. MACDONALD, M.D., D.P.H.
