In last year's Report I referred to the useful work which had
been accomplished by the Council's Health Visitors by means of
their regular visitation of the Foster Mothers and Nurse Children
in the Borough. Now that the arrangement has had a more
extended trial I am all the more convinced that these duties rightly
devolve upon the Borough Council. The Health Visitors are able
to make regular calls upon the Foster Mothers in the course of their
routine work and, apart from the home supervision, many of the
Foster Mothers bring their charges regularly to the Infant Consultations
to be weighed, and to receive advice, etc., where necessary.
The small number of deaths (3) out of a total of 63 Nurse Children
must be regarded as satisfactory.
