For all London the rate was 85 in 1919, compared with 107
in 1918 and 103 in 1917. For England and Wales the rate was
93, compared with 97 in 1918, 97 in 1917 and 99 in 1916.

Locally, the variations were from 71 per 1,000 births in East Greenwich, 84 in Charlton, 105 in Kidbrooke, 123 in West Green-wich, to 152 in St. Nicholas. The following table compares at a glance these figures for the years since the formation of the Borough:—

AN ANALYSIS OF DEATH CAUSES.
All death causes are conveniently arranged under various headings,
according to the Registrar-General's classification of diseases,
and the following table shows the Death Rates for all persons
belonging to the Borough (although some of them may have died
in Institutions in other Boroughs, or even outside the County of
London altogether), per 1,000 of the population living in the
Borough.
