Glanders. Under the Glanders Order no notification
been made to this authority during the year with respect to out-
breaks of Glanders.
Glanders, Anthrax and Hydrophobia. No notification of
any case of these diseases in man has been received during the year.
Tuberculosis. During the year there were 403 cases of
Tuberculosis notified in the Borough, 267 being pulmonary cases,
ordinarily known as Consumption, and 136 non-pulmonary, being
Tuberculosis affecting other portions of the body than the lungs.
Of this number of cases, 98 Pulmonary and 53 Non-pulmonary
occurred in East Greenwich, 90 Pulmonary and 37 Non-pulmonary
in West Greenwich, 20 Pulmonary and 17 Non-pulmonary in St.
Nicholas, 5 Pulmonary and 29 Non-pulmonary in Charlton, and
83 Pulmonary in Kidbrooke. The various ages of the patients were
as follows: — Pulmonary cases, under one year of age, no cases;
from 1 to '5, three cases; 5 to 15, thirty-three Cases; 15 to 25, sixtythree
cases; 25 to 4.5, one hundred and thirty-two cases; 45 to 65,
thirty-five cases; and one case over 65; whilst the Non-pulmonary
wen —under 1 year of age, one case; 1 to 5, twenty-three cases;
5 to 15, ninety-two cases; 15 to 25, eight cases: 25 to 45, twelve
cases.
Two hundred and sixty-eight specimens were forwarded by
medical practitioners for bacteriological investigation from
patients suspected to be consumptive; 216 were reported to be
negative and 52 positive.
Disinfection has been offered and carried out in 66 cases, including
87 rooms (and 360 articles of bedding, etc.; disinfectant
has also been supplied to patients to disinfect sputum, etc., and
sputum pots where such are found necessary.
