seven were from Bright's Disease, 7 from Acute Nephritis, 2 from
Calculus 9 from diseases of the Bladder and Prostate, and 3 from
ill-defined causes of the urinary system.
Reproductive System. Disease of the generative organs was
the cause of 6 deaths, 4 deaths were attributed to diseases of Uterus
and Appendages and 2to Diseases of Ovaries. There were 2
deaths attributed to diseases of Parturition.
Bonks and Joints. There were 2 deaths from diseases of
bones and joints.
Integumentary System. There were 6 deaths from diseases
of Integumentary System.
External Causes. There were 53 deaths given as due to
causes grouped under this heading; 49 were the result of accident
or negligence, and the remaining 4 Were from Suicide.
No children died of Suffocation by being overlaid in bed
during 1918 (compared with 6 from this cause last year); 7 cases
were from drowning, 1 by weapon or implement, while accidents on
railways, in vehicular traffic and in building operations, falls, etc.,
were responsible for 45 deaths.
The Suicides were 1 by cut or stab, 1 from Drowning, 1 by
Hanging and Strangulation, and 1 from Asphyxia.
Ill-Defined Causes. There was no death the cause of which
was not ascertained in 1918.

Notifications under the Provisions of the Public Health
(London) Act, 1891. During the year 2,613 cases have been
notified under the above Act, as compared with 1,493, 1,906 and
1,400 respectively, in the preceding years 1915, 1916 and 1917.
Small-Pox. No cases of this disease were notified during
the year in persons residing in the Borough.
Chicken-Pox. Two hundred and nineteen cases of this disease
were notified during three months of the year in which it was
notifiable.
