INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The Infantile Mortality, measured by the deaths of children
under one year of age to the number of births 'registered, was 119
per 1,000 births, there having been a total of 210 such deaths
during the year, as compared with 238, 197, mid 203, the figures
for the years 1915, 1916 and 1917. The number for the County of
London was 107 per 1,000 births, the average for the past five
years in Greenwich has been 103 per 1,000 births.
For all London the rate was 107 in 1918, compared with 103
in 1917 and 89 in 1916. For England and Wales the rate was
97, compared with 97 in 1917, 99 in 1916 'and 110 in 1915.
Locally, the variations were from 40 per 1,000 births in
Kidbrooek, 99 in East Greenwich, 123 in St. Nicholas, 131 in
Charlton to 146 in West Greenwich. The following table compares
at a glance these figures for the years since the formation
of the Borough:—

AN ANALYSIS OF DEATH CAUSES.
All death causes are conveniently arranged under various headings,
according to the Registrar-General's classification of diseases,
and the follow ing table shows the Death Kates for all persons
belonging to the Borough (although some of them may have died
in Institutions in other Boroughs, or even outside the County of
London altogether), per 1,000 of the population living in the
Borough.
