The Birth Rate for the County of London equals 16.1 per
1,000 of the population. It varied from 7.3 in the City of London,
10.3 in the City of Westminster, to 21.7 in Lambeth. The Birth
Rate for all England and Wales was 17.7.
Under the provisions of the Notifications of Births Act, 1907,
intimations have been received from medical men, parents, and
others, with respect to 1,735 births.
DEATHS.
The total number of deaths registered during 1918 was 1,718,
of which 895 were males and 823 females. The crude Death Rate
for the Borough of 1916 per 1,000 compares with 18.9, the Death
Rate for the County of London, and 18.2 the Death Rate for the
large towns.
Locally the Death Rate varied from 26.03 in West Greenwich,
24.45 in St. Nicholas, 20.42 in Charlton, 16.01 in East Greenwich,
to 10.50 in Kidbrooke.
