House Drainage. One hundred and fifty-two house drainage
systems have been reconstructed; 225 such systems have also been
opened, cleansed and amended; 87 surface drains have been constructed;
46 drains and soil pipes have been ventilated, 68 systems
have been tested by smoke land 183 by water, of which number
167 were found to be defective; 43 new soil pipes and 220 traps
have been fixed, together with 32 intercepting chambers and 5
other chambers; 36 areas, 52 yards, and 1 mews and stables have
been thoroughly drained. Thirty-one water-closets have been
erected; a pan, trap and water supply have been furnished throughout
in 98 cases, and other fittings in 128 cases, whilst the
water supply has been renewed in 39 instances. The water supply
for lavatory purposes has been disconnected from the drinking
water system in 24 instances. Public-house urinals have been
cleansed and repaired in 59 instances, 6 urinals were altered, and
6 repaired or water laid on.
Refuse Removal. New ash receptacles have been provided
in 257 cases, and 1 complaint on this subject has been forwarded
to the Surveyor for his attention.
Offensive Trade Refuse. The arrangements entered into
with Messrs. Hempleman & Co., of West Ham, still continue to
work very satisfactorily.
Public Sanitary Conveniences. The Public Sanitary Conveniences,
Urinals, Fountains and Horse Troughs situated within
the Borough arc the same as last year.
Water Supply. The water supplied throughout the whole
of the district by the Metropolitan Water Board still maintains
its high standard of purity.
